Since I’ve just started I think I would like to remind myself of the books and series I’ve read and possibly the option of re-reading them.
- Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld
This series was my introduction to YA and I read it before it became more than just a trilogy and I want to go back and read these 3 books because I enjoyed them and it felt like a complete story to me.
3. Looking for Alaska by John Green
I liked the weirdness of this book and the writing, however, it was a really long time ago and I don’t really remember what happened. I’ve also read The Fault in Our Stars and unfortunately it would appear that John Green’s books aren’t very memorable.
4. Wings by Aprilynne Pike
I love faeries and although this wasn’t the greatest story or writing I really enjoyed it and the settings and locations it was set in. I enjoyed learning about the way of life and it would be nice to go back to it.
5. The perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
This is just a great read.
6. Birthright by Gabrielle Zevin
I’ve not seen much talk about this series but it’s a really interesting story and the premise of chocolate and coffee being illegal and a girl coming from a mob family and her struggling to live her life and move on from it is extremely compelling and I think relatable minus the criminal aspect.
7. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
I love mythology and to learn through this has actually been quite useful. My boyfriend comes from a Greek background and due to this series we’ve been able to bond over that aspect and that’s been a really nice thing for us to talk about sometimes. However, I highly doubt I’ll reread this just due to my age.
8. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
I still have Queen of Shadows to read but I really like how Celena has developed and would like to go back to this. but this is one of my favourite series, I’m just really bad at pushing forward to series.
9. Halo by Alexandra Adornetto
This is not the greatest series in the world but I flew through these books and enjoyed them as something sweet and romantic and about a relationship and angels. And just all over I enjoyed myself.
10. Chew by John Layman and Rob Guillory
READ THIS!!!!! This is my favourite comic series of all time. I’ve reread it 4 times and it’s still not completed. Every time a new volume comes out I reread it. It’s so damn good. The premise is nothing you’ll have ever read trust me. Just enjoy the humour that is a bit twisted, I love the art although I like art that distorts proportion so I understand why some people might not. But for the story it is more than worth it.
Just anyone, everyone, read Chew, please, and then come have a chat with me about it. I’ll love you forever.
Love those covers where are you? I need to finish a lot of these are series I’ve started. Aprilynne is local and I’ve met her so many times she’s so cool and I just need to finish them already!! I did love the Uglies series but hadn’t heard much about Afterworlds. And the coffee and chocolate one I haven’t heard of at all but it sounds interesting.

I’m Scottish. So they’re all the UK covers. Took me years to realise that different places get different covers.
It’s a really quick set to get through so I would recommend it

Ah cool. Yes I usually prefer the UK covers. I order a lot of them. I recognized some as the UK ones, but wasn’t sure if perhaps they might be somewhere close also. I will finish them! lol

I don’t like Zoella Im afraid. I spend a lot of my time reading fantasy and I don’t really enjoy anything like that. I spend my day learning about accountancy and finance so books are an escape for me so I read less contemporary and things to those effect. The less like real life the better it is to me.
I’ve just read Slammed by Colleen Hoover which I enjoyed so I lay delve more into that genre but not right now. Thanks anyway

Ohh I see I haven’t read it either but the synopsis looked good and my friend admitted it was really good. But I think I’ll give it a try. Can you suggest some other good series or books because right now I am not reading anything and my friends tell me to read John Green books but I think he writes really, really sad stories so….

I like looking for Alaska but I haven’t read that in a while but I don’t remember that being overly sad. If you like the mortal instruments read the infernal devices. For more fantasy but great characters then read throne of glass b y Sarah J Maas and the raven boys by Maggie steifvater. For faeries then read Wings by Aprilynne Pike; that’s quite a sweet story more focussed on discovery and romance with some action to it. Halo by Alexandra Adornetto is about angels and isn’t too bad. Cinder by Marissa Meyer is a must read whether or not you like si-fi in my opinion. Marie Lu is a good writer and she has quite a few series.
It depends an what you’re interested in. I’m a really big fantasy reader and I’m not the best at venturing out.
